The international Bachelor of Arts “Expanded Realities” program at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences offers an innovative, interdisciplinary and praxis-oriented curriculum that integrates relevant artistic, technological, cultural and methodological dimensions of immersive media productions. The Expanded Realities program is taught in English by a team of experienced lecturers with industry background.
The faculty’s resources include state-of-the-art software and hardware, a motion-capturing studio, a game and virtual reality lab, fully equipped film and sound studios and a usability lab.
Essential technical, creative and scientific basics are taught in the first two semesters. From the third semester onwards, the practical workshops take up a central role.
Here, students work in teams on increasingly complex practical projects with high-tech equipment, as they will be doing later in their professional lives. In the fourth semester, the students spend the practical phase in a company, media agency or research institute. Furthermore, Expanded Realities workshops are followed by a research project and the Bachelor’s thesis in the seventh semester.
In order to study Expanded Realities, you will need a valid university entrance certificate. If you plan to obtain your university entrance certificate only after the application deadline, you must submit a certification of enrolment from your school and your last two school reports.
If you do not have a university entrance certificate at all and do not expect to obtain one in the year of your application, you may apply for admission based on outstanding artistic aptitude.
As the Expanded Realities program is mainly carried out in the English language, English language proficiency is mandatory.
Proof of your proficiency in English must be shown with a B2 certificate or with an above-average grade in English on your school report.
