With an MSc degree in Agricultural Economics, you may find employment with various institutions and companies in Denmark as well as internationally. You may, for example, be hired by:
- Banks and financial institutions or international organizations such as the EU and OECD
- Ministries (e.g. the Danish Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries) and government agencies (e.g. the Danish Environmental Protection Agency), where you can contribute to establishing the basis for the policy in the food and environmental area
- Central agricultural organizations and companies
- Economic consultancies and advisory services
- Universities as a researcher or a lecturer in economics and social conditions

As an MSC Student of Agricultural Economics, you will work with economics and policy from an international perspective with a special emphasis on food, agribusiness, and development.
You will gain knowledge about the way economic incentives can regulate the consumption and production of food, and why rich parts of the world have large food stocks while people in the third world are starving.
The program also gives you a chance to study industrial organization and innovation in the food industry, and analyze the agribusiness value chain from farm to fork. If you would like to work with big challenges within international economics and food policy, an MSc in Agricultural Economics is an obvious choice for you.
The BSc program in Agricultural Economics at the Faculty of Science and BSc graduates in Economics from other Danish universities qualifies graduates directly for admission to the MSc program in Agricultural Economics.
Students holding a BSc degree from other study directions at the Faculty of Science or a BSc degree from another institution of higher education may be admitted on an individual basis. It is a minimum requirement that their examination includes courses in:
- Microeconomics (at least 22.5 ECTS)
- Macroeconomics (at least 15 ECTS)
- International Economics (at least 7.5 ECTS)
- Statistics (at least 7.5 ECTS)
- Econometrics (at least 7.5 ECTS)
- Mathematics (at least 7.5 ECTS)

To gain admission to an MSc taught in English, all applicants must have English language proficiency on par with the Danish upper secondary school ‘English level B’ with a weighted average of minimum 3 or ‘English level A’ with a weighted average of minimum 2 on the Danish grading scale.
Applicants with reserved access
If you have reserved access to the program that you are applying for you are not required to document your proficiency in English.
All other applicants
All other applicants must document qualifications on par with the Danish upper secondary school ‘English level B’ with an average weighted score of 3 or ‘English level A’ with a weighted average of minimum 2 on the Danish grading scale.
We accept the following ways of documenting this:
1) You have studied a full degree in English
An English taught qualifying upper secondary school diploma, Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree from USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK or Ireland will exempt you from the language requirement. The degree must be minimum of 2 years of studies. A student exchange semester/year will not exempt you from the language requirement.
2) English proficiency
If you have not studied a full degree in English you must:
- Either document that you have passed Danish upper secondary school ‘English level B’ (Engelsk B) with the minimum weighted average grade of 3 on the Danish grading scale
- Or document that you have passed Danish upper secondary school ‘English level A’ (Engelsk A) with the minimum weighted average grade of 2 on the Danish grading scale
- Or document that you are holding a Nordic entrance examination with an English level which is considered comparable to a Danish B level in English by the Danish Agency of International Education. Or you must pass an IELTS Academic, TOEFL, Cambridge Advanced English or Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) test.
