The MSc program in Agricultural Development allows you to choose among many different profiles or specializations: Plant Production, Human Nutrition, Tropical Forestry, Development Economics, Animal Husbandry, Food Science, and Environmental Protection.

Career Opportunities

The program gives you career opportunities within the development of developing countries. As an MSc in Agricultural Development, you can, among other things:

  • Become a consultant in a Danish or international organization specializing in the development and/or food, (e.g. Danida, UNEP, FAO, EU).
  • Work within research in Denmark or at an international research institution, e.g. at universities and government research institutions.
  • Find employment with one of the many organizations focusing on developing countries. Recent graduates from the program are working with the Red Cross, CARE, DanChurchAid, the Child Fund Alliance (Denmark) and Save the Children (Denmark)
  • Find employment with companies engaging in fair trade, ecology, and global trade, e.g. certification, labeling, purchasing, and sales.

Tuition

There is a tuition fee for all full-time degree students from outside the EU, EAA, or Switzerland. Students within an exchange program are not required to pay tuition.

Course Details:

The two-year MSc programme in Agricultural Development  focuses on sustainable development in developing countries and provides you with scientific and practical knowledge about:

  1. farming
  2. forestry systems
  3. food processing and quality
  4. economic development
  5. rural livelihoods
  6. environmental and natural resource management.

The MSc program combines a scientific approach to problem-solving with the social understanding of the conditions for development.

The program includes solid methodological and field-based training that allows you to work with such diverse issues how health and food safety can be secured through food production and how improved processing of food can generate a better income for the local communities.

Enrollment Requirements:

Students with a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in a field related to Agricultural Development are qualified as applicants, as well as students with certain other degrees from Aarhus University and the University of Copenhagen.
