This postgraduate program takes an international approach to combine theory and practice in providing broad business administration skills focused on international financial reporting standards and controls. It builds on the knowledge gained during undergraduate studies, sustainably expands skills, and provides opportunities for students to independently develop creative solutions.

The program provides the skills needed to analyze and identify goal-oriented operative and strategic measures and implement them in new and diverse settings. The individual modules are strongly interactively structured, which not only encourages the participants’ presentation skills and powers of articulation but also integrates their wealth of experience and insights into the process of mastering complex issues.

Furthermore, students will practice solving economic and managerial problems independently and as part of a team.

Course Details:

The three-semester, full-time Master’s program comprises two semesters of coursework and one semester for the preparation of the Master’s thesis and the final oral examination.
The first semester is built around mandatory courses. The respective modules are Advanced Financial and Advanced Managerial Accounting, IT Applications in Accounting as well as International Corporate Finance and Financial Analysis.
In the second semester, students participate in a seminar on accounting and controlling issues, which serves as a preparation for the Master’s thesis. In addition, students can choose from a number of courses.

  1. Elective 1: International Auditing or Business Process Management
  2. Elective 2: Special Issues of International Accounting or Special Issues of Managerial Accounting
  3. The “Master Pool” offers a wide range of options, such as Project Management, IT Security and Privacy, The Role of Europe in a Multipolar World, Corporate Transactions, Corporate Social Responsibility, Introduction to Programming, International Strategic Management, etc. (subject to change).

During the third semester, students will be engaged in researching and writing their Master’s theses

Enrollment Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in business studies
  2. Excellent English skills (details see below)
  3. Specific evidence of having completed undergraduate courses in financial accounting and managerial accounting/controlling
  4. Letter of motivation in English
  5. Curriculum vitae in English
  6. By providing a GMAT score of 600 points or above, an applicant can significantly increase his or her chance of being admitted. (In this case, an additional English certificate is not necessary.)

Very good knowledge of English is required. The level of English proficiency should correspond to at least level B2 of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference), e.g., TOEFL iBT 87, IELTS 6.0, TOEIC 800, or FCE.
