JHSPH Scholars’ Program Call for Applications for USA

JHSPH Scholars’ Program is pleased to invite alumni from the current Bloomberg Initiative priority countries (Bangladesh, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Pakistan, the Philippines, Ukraine and Vietnam) to apply for the 2020-2021 JHSPH Scholars Program. The Program is an annual initiative aimed at enriching leadership skills among select alumni of JHSPH Tobacco Control Leadership and Certificate Programs. The curriculum includes a practical skills-based approach to leadership development in four core areas: systems thinking, team building, personal change and advanced communication.

Throughout the Program, participants will have the opportunity to apply newly acquired skills in addressing a tobacco control-related problem that is consistent with the priorities of the Bloomberg Initiative and of interest to the applicant and their organization. The participants will be expected to take part in two in-person meetings, prepare short assignments and engage in monthly webinars and discussions with faculty and their peers.
Promising applicants will be short-listed and interviewed and up to 10 individuals will be selected to participate in the Program. Successful applicants must meet the following criteria:
  1. Have successfully completed the JHSPH Tobacco Control Leadership AND/OR Certificate Program as a participant from one of the Bloomberg Initiative’s ten priority countries;
  2. Have five years of professional experience and be working currently in tobacco control or a related area with demonstrated potential for progressing to a higher-level leadership position;
  3. Be able to commit to complete all required program activities and be endorsed by a senior official in his/her parent organization; and,
  4. Be proficient in written and spoken English.
