So, in this article, I will illustrate the challenges that one may face as a student and convey some tips to overcome them.
1. Time Management
Time management for students is a universal problem. One of the most common pitfalls most ambitious people tend to make is to miscalculate the time and energy they will need to complete a particular task. This behavior is typical of A-type overachievers who think they can keep everything under control and never turn down an opportunity no matter how demanding it is. Effective time management is associated with greater academic performance and lower levels of anxiety in students; however many students find it hard to find a balance between their studies and their day-to-day lives.
2. Distanced Relation with Parents
Students may be ambivalent about dependence and independence. Some will openly ask for parent support and others won’t tell parents important details. Parents need to ask their adolescents how they are doing without prying too much – while also being accessible and open.
3. Poor Communication with Advisors

The food of the institution is not like home cooking. Students can gain weight during the initial years by eating too much fat, starch, and junk food. Most students will complain about the food. The food here is pretty good, much of their dislike comes from eating at the same place for three meals a day, seven days a week and it’s not mom or dad’s cooking.
6. Balancement Complications
There are so many choices that the student can be overwhelmed and may not complete projects and tasks. There are so many clubs, organizations, activities, courses, lectures, sports practices, and concerns that it is sometimes hard to decide what to go to. Work can suffer if the student is spread too thin. Conversely, studies show that judicious active involvement can help students make better use of their time and increase the quality of their work. Some students don’t get enough sleep and get sick because they are committed to too many groups and/or projects.
7. Alluring Atrocious Habits
There are some promiscuous behavior and some drug use habits. Students have to mature, make responsible choices, and be aware that others may not engage in the most constructive behaviors. Sometimes roommates want to bring their partners into the room. Some students may even talk like “everyone else is doing it.” Keep in mind that this is their perception rather than the reality.
8. Home Sickness
Some students will be homesick, missing their family, friends, and pets. They will miss old routines and structures. Homesickness may leave you feeling depressed, anxious, and withdrawn. It may also lead students to experience social and behavioral problems, symptoms of depression and anxiety, coping deficits, academic difficulties, low self-esteem, feelings of helplessness, and obsessive thoughts and behaviors.
Many factors increase the risk of developing or triggering teen depression, including having issues that negatively impact self-esteem, such as obesity, peer problems, long-term bullying, academic problems, or have been the victim or witness of violence, such as physical or sexual abuse. When an individual has anxiety or depression, most of their mental ability is used to generate and process unsettling thoughts. This can cause difficulty concentrating on positive thoughts and be exhausting for the student, reducing their learning ability.
There are so many external stimuli these days that it’s little wonder that many students feel distracted. Social media, friends, phones, television, video games, and outings all have a part to play in wreaking havoc on students’ ability to focus on studying.

Drawing a study plan helps you find a balance that you are comfortable with and also helps in developing good study habits and establish good study routines which ensures that all subjects are studied. Hence, it is important to have an effective timetable to help you manage the time spent on each subject.
2. Prioritize your Feelings
Emotions can affect the learner at different stages of the learning process. As it has been demonstrated, they can have a positive or negative impact on one’s attention, motivation, learning strategies, and ability to self-regulate learning. By masking your feelings, they are not going to go away. Rather, feelings become trapped energy and can even have negative health consequences when they are ignored. Take some time to feel what you feel. This could come in the form of meditation. Or, if you’d rather write down what you feel, writing can be a therapeutic and cathartic experience. When you feel and share your feelings, you may also be able to see your situation in a new light. This exercise could lead you to come up with novel solutions for overcoming any challenge at hand.

Helping others is not only good for them and a good thing to do, but it also makes us happier and healthier too.
