Managers in international business face the particular challenge of having to fulfill a wide variety of tasks. In addition to having the ability to successfully represent a company in regional locations around the globe, international business managers must be qualified to lead multicultural teams. The Bachelor of Science program in International Management has been specially designed to meet these needs. In addition to a comprehensive business management education, students are offered a number of elective courses that allow them to create an individually-tailored curriculum based on their career goals.

Course Details:

The International Management program prepares students for a future leading role in international business due to its international focus and high practical content.

Bachelor’s students have the opportunity to integrate up to two semesters abroad into their study program. They profit from a network of more than 180 universities worldwide.

During the first three semesters, students acquire fundamental knowledge in core business functions and theories such as business administration, mathematical basics or economics, which forms the basis for a solid education.

Their fourth semester must be completed at an ISM partner university.
During the fifth and sixth semesters, students can focus on individual areas of interest with different elective modules such as consulting or business communication. Students who decide in favor of the Bachelor of Science International Management Global Track degree program spend an additional semester abroad at a partner university in the seventh semester.

Enrollment Requirements:

The ISM Bachelor’s programs are designed for applicants who have achieved a general qualification for university admission (Allgemeine Hochschulreife) or qualification for admission to universities of applied sciences (Fachhochschulreife). All applicants applying for a Bachelor’s program at the ISM are required to pass an entrance examination.

Admission process:

The ISM’s admission process is designed to identify those applicants whose abilities, personality traits, and motivation make them best suited to become students at the ISM.

The ISM’s admission process takes place on one day and is made up of three units:

  • Intelligence & knowledge test (paper-based)
  • Proficiency tests in mathematics, English, and (assuming previous knowledge) a second foreign language of the applicant’s choice
  • Personal interview

About the University/Institution:

The International School of Management (ISM) was established in Paris and New York as a school for international executive education in the 1990s under the leadership of Professor Jack Forget, who led similar executive programs in Paris and San Francisco in the 1980s and early 1990s. The focus was to offer global business education programs in specific regions and allowing for flexibility to meet the needs of working executives.

The first ISM International Executive MBA (IEMBA) program officially began in 1998, and the Institute expanded its programs, international presence, and student body to offer both masters and doctoral programs with the possibility of studying in several different countries. Over the years, ISM has offered programs in France, Spain, the United States, Japan, China, India, Brazil, and Africa.

Since its foundation, ISM’s student body has included over 500 students from nearly 100 different countries. Applicants who require a visa for studying in Germany must submit their application documents by the following deadlines:

Winter semester: 15 June
Summer semester: 15 December

For all other applicants, the admission period ends in August (winter semester) or February (summer semester) at the latest.
