Our Bachelor in Management & Technology program (TUM-BWL) gives you the interdisciplinary focus you need, putting you at a distinct advantage when it comes to shaping your career.

The program combines courses in management (70% of your studies) with a specialization in technologies focusing on digital technologies (30%). Our teaching draws on the latest research and state-of-the-art industrial practice. As well as lectures, we run regular tutorials and small-group seminars. Practical experience is ensured through project studies.

Throughout the course of your studies, we will prepare you for your career in the fields of management or technology by imparting a fundamental understanding of business issues and a basic understanding of technologies and innovations.

Structure:

  1. Basics in Economics, Law, Management, Mathematics and Natural Sciences
  2. Specialization in Technology: Digital Technologies
  3. Electives in Management and/or Technology
  4. International Experience and Communication Skills
  5. Project Studies focusing on practical or research issues
  6. Bachelor’s thesis

In their first four semesters, students will acquire basic knowledge in management (54 ECTS), economics (12 ECTS), law (12 ECTS), and mathematics and natural sciences (12 ECTS). Students can specialize in Digital Technologies (42 ECTS). They will spend their third semester at TUM Campus Garching. Practical experience is ensured through project studies in the fourth or fifth semester (12 ECTS). In the upper semesters, students will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge or specialize in their desired areas of management or technology by choosing electives (18 ECTS), to improve their communication skills (3 ECTS), and to go abroad in order to gain practical international experience (3 ECTS). Through the mobility window, we give our students the possibility to complete a semester abroad at one of our partner universities. The program will be completed by a written Bachelor’s thesis in the sixth semester (12 ECTS).

To qualify for the Bachelor in Management & Technology, applicants need to provide:

  • Abitur (university entrance qualification) or equivalent
  • Letter of motivation – maximum of two A4 pages
  • Successful completion of the assessment procedure

We will assess your application with regards to your final Abitur grade or final GPA and your four individual mid-year grades (“Halbjahresnoten”) in German or English, mathematics, and advanced natural science.
Applicants who cannot be directly admitted based on their grades or do not show mid-year grades or average grades may be invited to an admission interview.

Students who wish to enroll in the Bachelor in Management & Technology (TUM-BWL) and do not have a German university entrance qualification have to submit one of the following language certificates in English:

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
Minimum requirements: Internet-based test (iBT): 88, paper-based test (PBT): 605
If you send the TOEFL to us via ETS, please use the following TOEFL code: University 7806, department 99 (“any department not listed”). TOEFL ITP is not accepted.
When applying to TUM, only the official score report will be accepted as a valid document. The test taker score report is not sufficient.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
Only a minimum score of 6.5 and only the IELTS Academic will be accepted.
